Alison Mears
Majorette Advisor

Ali has been instructing competitive individuals and teams for nearly 15 years. She began twirling at the age of 8.  She competed in both solo and team events at local, regional, and national levels and was an Evergreen HS majorette before becoming a college twirler at BGSU. Ali joined the Sylvania Twirling Stars staff in 2010 teaching non-competition teams and solo lessons. In 2011, Ali left STS to get her Master’s at Ohio University and then worked as a career services consultant at Purdue University in Indiana.  During her 4 years working at Purdue, she was able to assist in coaching the Purdue Feature Twirlers and All-American Twirling Team by attending practices, auditions, gameday performances, and special events. Ali moved back to the area in 2017 is excited for another year to share her experience as a coach for the Southview Majorettes in addition to instructing students at STS.

Outside of twirling, Ali has a Bachelor’s Degree in deaf education from BGSU and Master’s Degree in higher education and student affairs from Ohio University. She loves helping high school and college students decide on a career path, college major, and connecting them to jobs and internships, in addition to speaking to groups about career and professional development. She currently works as Senior Campus Recruiting Consultant for Plante Moran, a regional public accounting and business advisory firm in Toledo where she recruits college students for internships and entry level positions.
